Westchester is more than a name or place.

It is an identity unique to Colchester.  It's stories are rich in character and interest.  We are in the process collecting those stories worth more than a paragraph or two.

We will be collecting more and more stories about this fascinating place and it's residents; past and present.

At one time, Westchester had:

One of the first textile Mills in America (1780) (a)

5 local schools - According to the 1859 Annual Report of the Board of School Visitor's there were ; Center School, Northeast District School, Southeast District School, Northwest District School, Southwest District School.

1 train stop

1 post office and unique zip code.

It still has it's name and unique telephone exchange of 267-xxxx.

Until the end of WWII, Westchester was guaranteed at least one seat on the Board of Selectmen.
