For over 300 years, Colchester has had businesses that influenced the world, the nation or the state of Connecticut.  This section is devoted to singing their praises.  They should not be faded memories or old factory ruins.

  Between 1877 and 1964, rail service was available to the Borough of Colchester.  It served the needs of Hayward Rubber Company, local residents, farmers and businesses.

 1887 was the start of major newspapers coming to Colchester.  Since then, four major newspapers were published within Colchester.

In the 1800's Colchester had two banks.  The Colchester Bank was short lived and lasted between 1856 and 1857.  The Colchester Savings Bank started in 1874 and lasted until the early 1900's.
