This is a growing list of accomplishments that by no means is complete. As time progresses, more and more stories will be added. 1985: Colchester Historic Society saves film from the 1930's. The Standard April 20, 1985 1969: After 100 years, portrait of Dr. John R. Watrous returned to Colchester. Dr. Watrous helped influence Pierpoint Bacon to found Bacon Academy. Dr. Watrous also was Colchester's first Borough Warden. 1998: Through their efforts, several important houses in Town, like the Sparrow House and Ballard Parsonage were spared from destruction. It was this effort that led to Colchester being awarded the first local preservation award from the state of Connecticut. |
